Why He Became a Dentist

Inspired by his own orthodontist while in high school, Dr. Naylor knew he wanted to pursue either a career in medicine or dentistry. Even then, he wanted to find a profession where he could truly help others and still have time to spend with his family. A couple of his uncles were dentists, and they encouraged him to follow in their footsteps. After working a variety of jobs ranging from serving eviction notices to pharmaceutical deliveries he was ready to start Dental School and his life long career of dentistry.

Dr. Naylor’s Dental Education & Training

After earning his undergraduate degree at University of Utah, Dr. Naylor was accepted at Roseman University College of Dental Medicine in South Jordan, UT. While there, he built a special interest in the surgical aspects of dentistry. From tooth extractions to placing implants, Dr. Naylor loved not doing the same thing every day. He enjoyed helping a wide variety of patients, and he liked the challenge of the toughest cases. At the same time, he saw first-hand how most people did not like going to the dentist and did everything he could to help them relax and enjoy the experience.

Upon graduation from dental school, Dr. Naylor went to work for Pacific Dental Services in Utah. While he gained great experience and treated hundreds of patients, he realized “corporate” dentistry was not for him. He wanted an environment where he could get to know each patient and where he could build long-term relationships. He wanted to be able to treat kids, parents and grandparents from the same family.

Within a year, Dr. Naylor and his wife agreed it was best to look for a practice and town where they could build their own business and raise a family. This search eventually led them to the Eugene-Springfield area. They made the move in 2017 and have loved the change. In fact, this decision has made it possible for Dr. Naylor to pursue more, advanced training in dental implants through groups such as The Spear Institute based in Scottsdale, AZ and the Osteoready Institute in San Antonio, TX.

Life Away from the Dental Practice

Dr. Naylor is married to his amazing wife, Kate. With their three energetic boys under the age of 6, there is never a dull moment at home. When the opportunity arises Dr. Naylor enjoys tackling long bike rides throughout Lane County on any given Saturday morning.

He also loves spending time with his family at the park or exploring the Oregon coast. They are always looking for new adventures to experience together, and Dr. Naylor welcomes your suggestions.

If you are like Dr. Naylor, you work hard to find the perfect balance between work and family. And, he cannot think of any better place than Eugene-Springfield to pursue this goal.
