How are Porcelain Veneers Placed?

Porcelain veneers are placed over the course of at least two treatment appointments. Before we begin treatment, you’ll need to visit us for a consultation. While porcelain veneers are a versatile cosmetic option, they aren’t right for every patient. During your consultation appointment, we’ll assess your smile and help you determine whether or not veneers are right for you. If we do decide that porcelain veneers are your ideal cosmetic solution, we still need to discuss how many teeth to treat and whether to apply veneers to the top, bottom, or both rows of teeth. Once we have a plan in mind, we’ll schedule your treatments.

The Porcelain Veneers Process

During the initial visit, we prepare teeth by removing a small amount of surface tooth enamel that will let the veneers lay flat within the smile line. Then, we capture impressions of these prepared teeth that will be used by a dental lab to craft custom veneers. Temporary veneers are placed to protect teeth between appointments. Once we receive the custom porcelain veneers from our lab, you’ll return to exchange the temporary for your custom porcelain veneers.

Porcelain veneers are versatile treatment options. We may recommend veneers for patients who wish to enhance their smiles. Veneers can be used to conceal flaws like stains and tooth chips or cracks. Porcelain veneers can also correct more advanced issues like uneven tooth spacing and misaligned teeth. Whatever cosmetic flaws you want to address, porcelain veneers may be a great cosmetic solution.

More Cosmetic Dentistry Options

Porcelain veneers are an excellent cosmetic solution that enhance smiles with a wide range of cosmetic flaws, but they are not the best option for every patient. Our team provides a wide range of cosmetic dentistry solutions to fit any patients’ needs, budgets, and schedules. Patients who don’t have time to visit our office more than once may want to consider cosmetic bonding as a simple, same day solution that can address many of the same cosmetic flaws. Patients whose smile is marred by just one or two misshapen, broken, or discolored teeth, may be better served with a metal-free dental crown. Whatever your cosmetic dentistry needs, our skilled dentist and caring team will help you find the best solution and create a personalized treatment plan.
