How Dental Insurance Works

We encourage patients to bring their dental insurance policies in to our office, so we can review them individually in order to provide accurate estimates of the out of pocket costs of dental care. Each benefit policy represents a unique contract between you, your insurer, and/or your employer, but you can typically expect some combination of the following benefits:

  • 100% preventive care covered
  • Minor restorative care around 70%-80% covered
  • Major restorative care around 50%

What is the Difference Between Dental & Medical Insurance?

For the most part, dental and medical insurance polices are very similar. They both offer coverage for a percentage of the costs of healthcare services in exchange for the payment of monthly premiums. Where medical and dental plans vary is in the types of services they cover. Dental benefits emphasize prevention offering 100% coverage for dental checkups in most cases. Medical insurance policies provide the greatest amount of coverage for chronic illnesses and emergencies.

In-Network VS Out of Network Dentistry

In order to help patients keep the costs of their dental care within their budgets, our team is happy to process and file dental insurance claims for most major providers. We process insurance claims for both in and out of network insurers and help patients maximize their dental benefits. Our knowledgeable team will be happy to answer any questions you have about your insurance benefits, so please don’t hesitate to ask.

In-Network Coverage

In order to help our patients make the most of their benefits, we are happy to provide in-network coverage for many dental benefit providers. This means, we have agreed to the pricing set by your insurer, so you will only need to pay the out of pocket percentage of the costs of dental care. We are in-network with the following insurers:

Out of Network Coverage

Even if we’re not in-network with your dental insurance provider, we’ll still do our utmost to offer affordable dental care that maximizes your benefits. Our knowledgeable team members will process and file insurance claims forms, communicate with your insurer as necessary to ensure you receive the lowest out of pocket costs, and partner with you in keeping the cost of dental care within your budget. If you’re ever concerned about the price of treatment or amount of dental insurance coverage you receive, don’t hesitate to contact us. We’ll be happy to review your policy and treatment plan to make sure you receive the benefits you deserve.
